Q. Apart from all of the niceties you say you believe in, and all the people you're trying to impress, what do you REALLY think about the homeless?
United States
A. You're awfully presumptuous too assume that I have niceties... I'm actually a very blunt and crass individual. In fact today I had to visit my mom in the hospital and I was making catcalls and whistling at the more attractive nurses.
How do I feel about the homeless? I think their life sucks. I don't think they chose to be in that situation but really got stuck due to their circumstance. Granted, they brought some of their plight on themselves. But, it's not easy to succeed when you grow up around failure.
In truth, if I see someone begging, I give them a dollar. Because I feel I have been blessed as I have a lot things in my life that I didn't have to work for, and I'm not going to suffer by giving that person some money. I also change tires for women on the side of the road. Even if that homeless person uses the money to buy drugs or alcohol, maybe by me giving them money they'll be less likely to mug some girl in a dark alley for a dollar.
I don't approve of the government stepping in and taking care of these people. Or really any people for that matter. I pay them to protect me from bad guys across the ocean and in mexico. Any other use of my money is just outrageous. It is my choice to help people in need, I should be able to decide that. If you decide that you don't want to help these people, then that's your choice, and YOUR money!
Otherwise, I think the homeless are just lonely and scared. They want a way out but they just don't know how. I imagine it's probably like trying to fly when you aint got wings (Tom Petty). Many of these people probably grew up not knowing to pay rent instead of buying drugs from their parents. Or why they shouldn't steal. Etc.
Hope that explains my opinion.
