Q. woohoo, Pennsylvania primary tomorrow! I'm excited, how about you?
United States
A. I was gonna make my next question "Are you a political junky?" This is perfect- I get the answer to my question without asking it. How's that for quick service?
I'm mainly relieved. It's been too long between primaries, making this one more important than it should be. But I think of Pennsylvania as a typical State- variety with urban east coast, urban midwest, rural, and suburban areas. As a major primary at least it's a more representative state than most.
Some people follow sports, I follow politics. There are more clear winners and losers in sports and you know who you want to win in sports. Sometimes the person you want to win turns out bad in office in politics so you have to revisit whether the election was a win or a loss when you think about it later. In sports a win stays a win and that's that.
I don't think the results are going to be very satisfying. The win tomorrow will be close so it'll still be a mixed up situation by the time the convention hits. Obama just has to hold on to finishing near Hillary then take North Carolina and Indiana to regain the momentum. Unlike most, I think Obama's helped more by the continuing fight. He's the one people don't know as well. After this long primary if he wins then people will feel more like they've known him forever and he's been tested. Hillary has much more to lose since she has so many Republicans and Independents who dislike her personally it would have been better for her to show that she is at least overwhelmingly popular among her own party. Democracy is, at least, sometimes a really good show. But I get frustrated that so much is in the hands of the undecideds- people who can't make up their mind after all this time and attention on the candidates worry me. They don't seem to have clearly formed ideas and goals, they are more likely to focus on silly issues, and the fate of the world is in their hands again. It makes for a more exciting show, though.
